Contrary to reports that Microsoft would not be giving a free copy of Windows 7 to the invite-only technical beta participants, Microsoft has now said they are going to receive a free copy of Windows 7 Ultimate.

“Normally I hate to be wrong but in this case, I’m stoked that I am.” Brandon LeBlanc stated in a posting on the Windows Team Blog.

“To show your appreciation, members of the invitation-only Windows 7 Technical Beta Program will be eligible for a free, final copy of Windows 7 Ultimate.”

This announcement comes after an announcement stated that the company was not going to offer a free copy of Windows 7 to tech beta testers as they have in previous Windows releases.
