UPDATE: “Crying Like A Bitch” hits the radio everywhere, fans can now start requesting the song!!!

godsmackLogo2 After a two year hiatus to “recharge their batteries” and a tour with Motley Crue on their “Crue Fest 2” tour late last year, the band entered the studio in September of 2009 and worked on a new album.

The American heavy metal band from Lawrence, Massachusetts chose to work with producer Dave Fortman who has worked with bands such as Superjoint Ritual, Mudvayne, Otep and Simple Plan, as well as on both of Evanescence’s multi-platinum selling albums, The Open Door and Fallen.

In an interview, Godsmack drummer Shannon Larkin described the albums sound is much more like the band’s self-titled album stating that: “It’s going to be a monster. The drums sound incredible, Sully’s [Erna] voice is on fire…it’s gonna be much more like the first record; much heavier, with simple, catchy guitar-driven riffs. We’re working with Dave Fortman who I was lucky enough to play with in UGLY KID JOE and who has done production for Slipknot and Mudvayne, to name a few. He and Sully are co-producing the record and they make a great team.

On January 15, 2010, Godsmack joined forces with Rockpit.com to promote the album. Rockpit.com will contain exclusive clips directed by DanCatullo, updated weekly. Rockpit.com has created a series of 15 webisodes for Godsmack fans describing the process, rituals and methodology of making an album.

When Dan Catullo was asked about the idea behind documenting them making The Oracle, he stated that:

We felt that over the course of 10 years of me filming the band we have done it all; the stadium show, the small initmate acoustic performance, the arena show and the mini-movie. The only thing we haven’t done was document the recording of a record. Quite frankly it was the only thing left to do with them that wouldn’t be repeating history!"

The first single off of this album is called "Crying Like A Bitch". The song is already receiving radio play, yesterday 95.1 Wiil Rock (pronounced Will Rock) a rock station out of Kenosha, Wisconsin played the new single every hour. In a tweet on the bands official twitter (Godsmack_Music)  the band stated today “get ready to start requesting #cryinglikeabitch at all local rock stations by godsmack end of the week ”(sic). If you’re a Godsmack fan, get ready, its coming to your local radio station this week and make sure you call, text, or email you’re favorite rock stations DJ and tell them to play “Crying Like A Bitch” from Godsmack.

In addition, the band has also set an official release date for the album, “The Oracle” will be released on Thursday, March 4, 2010 and will be available for purchase from all retail outlets.
