Google Drop Several Products
Before taking over as Google CEO in April, Larry Page promised that he would drop products that failed to deliver financially. Now that he's took the helm he has been true to his word.
In a post on the Official Google Blog from the Senior Vice President Alan Eustace we read:
"Technology improves, people’s needs change, some bets pay off and others don’t. So, as Larry previewed on our last earnings call, today we’re having a fall spring-clean at Google."
Products dropped include:
Google Maps API for Flash
Google Web Security
Of course this does not mean that Google will shy away from new opportunities as the closing statement on the blog clearly states
"We’ve never been afraid to try big, bold things, and that won’t change. We’ll continue to take risks on interesting new technologies with a lot of potential. But by targeting our resources more effectively, we can focus on building world-changing products with a truly beautiful user experience."
