In Windows 8, Microsoft has overhauled the user interface, and in doing so made some great changes to the way we use our computers every day.
Microsoft has added the date and time to the Lock Screen which is one of the most obvious changes visible. Secondly, they’ve added Networking and App notifications to the Lock Screen to get an “at a glance” view of what’s happened while you were away from your PC.

To get started with the new and much improved Lock Screen, the company has made it really easy for users to easily customize the Lock Screen. There are a handful of ways users can customize their Lock Screen to personalize their PC. To begin with, we are going to take a look at simply customizing the Lock Screen’s background image firstly using Touch gestures and then by using the mouse and keyboard on a traditional desktop, this is the image you will see when you first boot up your PC prior to logging into your account and begin using your PC.

To customize the background image, you can choose from 6 preinstalled background images, or if you’d like, you can use your own photo to make it more personal, and truly “personalize” your PC.
