The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 “Stimulus Package” map pack will contain five new maps, two of which are from the previous Modern Warfare title, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, “Crash” and “Overgrown”, the latter was the stage for the beta of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, and it was later released as part of the map pack. The new additions to Modern Warfare 2 include “Storm”, and open industrial park littered with heavy machinery; “Salvage”, a snowy junkyard fortified by stacked debris and crushed cars, and lastly,  “Bailout,” which is a multi-level apartment complex.

Meanwhile, shortly after the release, Infinity Ward has planned “Double XP weekend” which will run from April 2 through April 5.

Overall the map pack sounds like an awesome addition the Modern Warfare 2, Whether the price is too high for you or not, that’s a decision you’re going to have to make on your own.

Infinity Ward, the creator of the highly popular shooter, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 is set to release the first DLC exclusively on the Xbox 360 on March 30, 2010. Following the release to the Xbox 360, players on Sony’s PlayStation 3 and PC players will get the DLC a few weeks later.

Rumors are floating around about the DLC for Modern Warfare 2 will include some popular multiplayer maps from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare,  such as “Overgrown” and “Crash”  included in the Modern Warfare 2 map pack which is coming on March 30, 2010.  Other maps which are exclusive to Modern Warfare 2 include “Storm”, “Complex”, and “Compact”.

In addition, it has also been stated in unofficial capacity that Infinity Ward will add new Special Ops Missions as well with the upcoming DLC release on the 30th.

This is the first of two map packs that will be released, the second is said to come in the fall of this year.

For the first time, the company is announcing that it plans to release a new game in the Call of Duty series in 2011 and that Sledgehammer Games, a newly formed, wholly owned studio is in development on a Call of Duty game that will expand the Call of Duty franchise into the action-adventure genre.

Sledgehammer Games is helmed by industry veterans Glen A. Schofield and Michael Condrey. Prior to joining Activision Publishing, Schofield was the Executive Producer of the award-winning game, Dead Space and Michael Condrey was the Sr. Development Director on the game. The Dead Space franchise has won more than 80 industry awards worldwide including the prestigious A.I.A.S. Action Game of the Year and two B.A.F.T.A.S.

While, the Call of Duty business unit will be led by Philip Earl, who currently runs Activision Publishing’s Asia Pacific region and previously served in senior executive positions with Procter & Gamble and Nestle. Activision Publishing veterans Steve Pearce, chief technology officer and Steve Ackrich, head of production, will lead Infinity Ward on an interim basis.

In a press release from Activision, the company has confirmed that Jason West and Vince Zampella are no longer with Infinity Ward. However, the company will not comment as to the reason West and Zampella are no longer with Infinity Ward.

The album is set to be released on May 4, 2010, meanwhile the band has released the first official single from the album titled “Cryin’ Like a Bitch” which has been receiving radio play at 92 rock stations and has fared quite well. We reported that “Cryin’ Like a Bitch” had been receiving raidio play well before it’s scheduled release date, despite only being released to 92 stations, “Cryin’ Like a Bitch” peaked at #8 on the mainstream rock chart, while the previous single “Whiskey Hangover” – which was released in 2009 before ‘crue fest’ tour" – topped out at #1 on the Mainstream Rock chart.

Godsmack’s management was not immediately available for comment as to whether the band had dropped “Whiskey Hangover” from the album.

In addition, the band also revealed the official art work for the single “Cryin’ Like a Bitch” on their web site.

“Diamond Eyes” was originally scheduled to be released on April 27, 2010 but was pushed back three weeks to May 18, 2010 through Warner Bros. Records/Reprise Records. On Tuesday, February 23, 2010 the band released the first single from “Diamond Eyes” as a free download on their official web site, the single titled “Rocket Skates”.

While “Rocket Skates” will not be receiving radio play its known that the first radio single will be the title track, "Diamond Eyes," and will be released for airplay on March 30, 2010.

Commenting on song writing, Moreno stated:

“ I don’t like listening to people’s problems — I like music. Music has been smothered with that complaining since the early-’90s. It gets old. Instead of going to the opposite side of the spectrum and listening to Black Eyed Peas, which is just straight silly, I choose to listen to more instrumental music. I do very little singing about myself on this record. I love songs where I can totally take myself out of being human. I can sing about really odd things, and they don’t necessarily have to pertain to me at all. It paints a picture. Those are the kind of lyrics I grew up with — like The Cure. Really visual images and no storytelling.”

Deftones wanted to make an optimistic record, as opposed to the dark and angry album they just finished. “Diamond Eyes” was recorded in two months with producer Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Velvet Revolver, Stone Sour). Deftones avoided using Pro Tools on the album in favor of writing songs together as a band and practicing them "a million times ’til they were perfect" in order to achieve a more raw and "personable" sound.

Overall the album is expected to include a total of 11 tracks including “Rocket Skates”, Nylons and Suspenders”, and “Diamond Eyes”. The entire albums track list is not currently available.

In previous versions of Windows, the “Quick Launch” toolbar was an easy way for you to access your most used programs. In Windows 7, Microsoft opted to remove it from the Windows 7 Taskbar and instead allow you to pin applications directly to the taskbar.

While Microsoft didn’t offer a way to enable this feature by default, you can easily enable it and customize it to suite your needs.

To enable the “Quick Launch” toolbar in Windows 7 do the following:

1.       Right-click on an empty space in the taskbar and select “Toolbars” and then “New Toolbar” from the context menu.

2.       In the folder line on the “New Toolbar – Choose a Folder” window, type or copy the location below.

3.       Once you’ve entered the above location in the Folder line on the “New Toolbar – Choose a Folder” window click the Select Folder button.

4.       You’ve now enabled the Quick Launch toolbar in Windows 7. You can now click the arrow next to where it says “Quick Launch” and see a list of Quick Launch shortcuts.

Expanding the Quick Launch Toolbar to Show Icons on the Taskbar:

To expand the Quick Launch Toolbar we will need to do the following:

1.       Right-click on the taskbar and uncheck “Lock the taskbar” from the context menu.

2.       Next, left click on the dotted lines and hold, then drag to the left or right side of the taskbar and adjust to unhide all of the icons. Release the left click when you are done.

Hide Title of Quick Launch and Icon Text:

To hide the title and icon text we will need to do the following:

1.       Right click on the “Quick Launch” title and uncheck both “Show Text” and “Show Title” from the context menu. By doing this we will remove the title and the text from the shortcut icons.

2.       Once you’ve done that, and you have your “Quick Launch” toolbar in place, right click on the taskbar again and select “Lock the taskbar” from the context menu.

Saving the Current Theme to File:

1.       Right click on the desktop and select “Personalize” from the context menu.

2.       In the “Personalization” window right click on your theme and select “Save Theme” and enter a title for you theme and then click the “Save” button.

3.       Additionally, you can save this theme to share with others, to do this simply right click on the them again and select “Save Theme For Sharing” from the context menu and enter a file name in the “File name:” text box and click “Save” to save the theme as a theme pack.

Disable the Quick Launch toolbar

If you want to disable the Quick Launch toolbar, simply do the following:

1.       Right click on the taskbar and select “Toolbars” and uncheck “Quick Launch”. Once you do this you will have disabled the “Quick Launch” toolbar in Windows 7.

The search deal which was announced in July of 2009 while, seeking closure and approval from both the EC and USDOJ in early 2010.

Under the terms of the agreement, Microsoft will provide Yahoo! with the same search result listings available through Bing, and Yahoo! will innovate around those listings by integrating rich Yahoo! content, enhanced listings with conveniently organized information about key topics, and tools to tailor the experience for Yahoo! users.

Yahoo! will focus on providing a compelling and innovative search experience that allows people to find and explore the things, people and sites that matter most to them. While Microsoft will provide the underlying platform, both companies will continue to create different, compelling and evolving experiences, competing for audience, engagement and clicks.

Microsoft and Yahoo! are expected to begin the implementation process in the coming days and will involve transitioning Yahoo!’s algorithmic and paid search platforms to Microsoft, with Yahoo! becoming the exclusive relationship sales force for both companies’ premium search advertisers globally. Once the transition is complete, the companies’ unified search marketplace will deliver improved innovation for consumers, better volume and efficiency  for advertisers and better monetization opportunities for web publishers through a platform that will contain larger pool of search queries.

During the transition, Both companies will begin working closely with most partners well in advance of their planned transition to the Microsoft platform and will communicate important information to partners about the transition periodically via phone, e-mail, webinars and a newly-created Web site at www.searchalliance.com.

The companies will begin the transition of algorithmic search and have set a goal of completing that effort in at least the United States by the end of 2010. The companies also hope to make significant progress transitioning U.S. advertisers and publishers prior to the 2010 holiday season, but may wait until 2011 if they determine that the transition will be more effective after the holiday season. All global customers and partners are expected to be transitioned by early 2012.

“This breakthrough search alliance means Yahoo! can focus even more on our own innovative search experience,” said Yahoo! Chief Executive Officer Carol Bartz. “Yahoo! gets to do what we do best: combine our science and technology with compelling content to build personally relevant online experiences for our users and customers.”

Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer concurred with Bartz’s assessment.

“Although we are just at the beginning of this process, we have reached an exciting milestone,” Ballmer said. “I believe that together, Microsoft and Yahoo! will promote more choice, better value and greater innovation to our customers as well as to advertisers and publishers.”
