The Sacramento, California rock band Deftones is set to release their sixth studio album “Diamond Eyes”. The band previously finished another studio album in 2008, however, the release of the album was put on hold in favor of “Diamond Eyes”.

“Diamond Eyes” was originally scheduled to be released on April 27, 2010 but was pushed back three weeks to May 18, 2010 through Warner Bros. Records/Reprise Records. On Tuesday, February 23, 2010 the band released the first single from “Diamond Eyes” as a free download on their official web site, the single titled “Rocket Skates”.

While “Rocket Skates” will not be receiving radio play its known that the first radio single will be the title track, "Diamond Eyes," and will be released for airplay on March 30, 2010.

Commenting on song writing, Moreno stated:

“ I don’t like listening to people’s problems — I like music. Music has been smothered with that complaining since the early-’90s. It gets old. Instead of going to the opposite side of the spectrum and listening to Black Eyed Peas, which is just straight silly, I choose to listen to more instrumental music. I do very little singing about myself on this record. I love songs where I can totally take myself out of being human. I can sing about really odd things, and they don’t necessarily have to pertain to me at all. It paints a picture. Those are the kind of lyrics I grew up with — like The Cure. Really visual images and no storytelling.”

Deftones wanted to make an optimistic record, as opposed to the dark and angry album they just finished. “Diamond Eyes” was recorded in two months with producer Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Velvet Revolver, Stone Sour). Deftones avoided using Pro Tools on the album in favor of writing songs together as a band and practicing them "a million times ’til they were perfect" in order to achieve a more raw and "personable" sound.

Overall the album is expected to include a total of 11 tracks including “Rocket Skates”, Nylons and Suspenders”, and “Diamond Eyes”. The entire albums track list is not currently available.

UPDATE: “Crying Like A Bitch” hits the radio everywhere, fans can now start requesting the song!!!

After a two year hiatus to “recharge their batteries” and a tour with Motley Crue on their “Crue Fest 2” tour late last year, the band entered the studio in September of 2009 and worked on a new album.

The American heavy metal band from Lawrence, Massachusetts chose to work with producer Dave Fortman who has worked with bands such as Superjoint Ritual, Mudvayne, Otep and Simple Plan, as well as on both of Evanescence’s multi-platinum selling albums, The Open Door and Fallen.

In an interview, Godsmack drummer Shannon Larkin described the albums sound is much more like the band’s self-titled album stating that: “It’s going to be a monster. The drums sound incredible, Sully’s [Erna] voice is on fire…it’s gonna be much more like the first record; much heavier, with simple, catchy guitar-driven riffs. We’re working with Dave Fortman who I was lucky enough to play with in UGLY KID JOE and who has done production for Slipknot and Mudvayne, to name a few. He and Sully are co-producing the record and they make a great team.”

On January 15, 2010, Godsmack joined forces with Rockpit.com to promote the album. Rockpit.com will contain exclusive clips directed by DanCatullo, updated weekly. Rockpit.com has created a series of 15 webisodes for Godsmack fans describing the process, rituals and methodology of making an album.

When Dan Catullo was asked about the idea behind documenting them making The Oracle, he stated that:

“We felt that over the course of 10 years of me filming the band we have done it all; the stadium show, the small initmate acoustic performance, the arena show and the mini-movie. The only thing we haven’t done was document the recording of a record. Quite frankly it was the only thing left to do with them that wouldn’t be repeating history!"

The first single off of this album is called "Crying Like A Bitch". The song is already receiving radio play, yesterday 95.1 Wiil Rock (pronounced Will Rock) a rock station out of Kenosha, Wisconsin played the new single every hour. In a tweet on the bands official twitter (Godsmack_Music) the band stated today “get ready to start requesting #cryinglikeabitch at all local rock stations by godsmack end of the week ”(sic). If you’re a Godsmack fan, get ready, its coming to your local radio station this week and make sure you call, text, or email you’re favorite rock stations DJ and tell them to play “Crying Like A Bitch” from Godsmack.

In addition, the band has also set an official release date for the album, “The Oracle” will be released on Thursday, March 4, 2010 and will be available for purchase from all retail outlets.

To coincide with the album’s release date, the November 3rd episode of NCIS will prominently feature Bob Dylan’s “California” – a never-before-released track that originally dates from the Bringing It All Back Home sessions and has remained locked in the vaults until now. “California” has been newly mixed and mastered and is a true gem from one of music’s greatest artists. The remaining tracks will be placed in NCIS episodes throughout the current season, which ends in May 2010.

While Breaking Benjamin’s 4th studio album “Dear Agony” is still over a month away from release, the band had set the first single “I Will Not Bow” from “Dear Agony” free late Tuesday night. The release was prompted after the track was leaked to a Chicago radio station on Tuesday, the band felt it was necessary to release it to their MySpace page.

The track began streaming at 8pm Eastern Time on Breaking Benjamin’s MySpace website and has received nearly 73,000 plays since it’s release Tuesday night. Shortly afterward, the song began appearing on YouTube, the popular video sharing website from various users of the service. After listening to “I Will Not Bow” for the first time, I took a minute to digest it and immediately played it again, from the very first listen it felt very strong. The band sticks to it’s roots with “I Will Not Bow” and take their unique sound to the next level.

“I Will Not Bow” should see similar positions on the US Mainstream Rock charts as “So Cold” and “Breath” when they were released in 2004 and 2007 respectively. With the release of the film “Surrogates” coming to theaters a couple of days after “Dear Agony” hits the street, that should help boost requests for “I Will Not Bow” as it is a feature track on the films soundtrack. Overall, “I Will Not Bow” is a great song, and I look forward to hearing it on my local rock station next week, I know I will text, call or email my request to have it played. “I Will Not Bow” should be one of the most popular songs from the bands upcoming album, but if it’s any indication as to what the rest of the album sounds like, we may just be in for surprise.

Benjamin Burnley’s vocals are really great, he maintains his previous sound from past Breaking Benjamin albums and that’s alright with me.

If you would like to listen to “I Will Not Bow” and give us your opinion you can do so by visiting the discussion here.

The band has worked with famed producer Rick Rubin and toured the globe extensively with such bands as Slipknot, Slayer, Mudvayne and System of a Down. Citing singer Cameron Heacock’s “inability to continue on a musical career path,” as to the choice of disbanding.

“This is not the kind of news I enjoy being the bearer of, but we’ve been ready and waiting for input from Cameron for almost two years; we’ve written and recorded two albums worth of material in that time.” says co-founder and bassist Chad Hanks. “At this point, he no longer gives being in this band any sort of top priority, which is so sad seeing as how he has such an amazing and unique voice; I couldn’t wait to hear it on these songs.”

The band has said they are going to change their name and start the search for a new vocalist, and if you’re interested in auditioning to send your EPK’s and demos to NewVocalist2009@gmail.com.

“However, we’re looking forward to some new blood; a young, hungry soul that doesn’t sound like anyone else and is ready to work his a** off. We’re more than eager to get back to the mines. This is what we do.”

In this part of the editorial, we will talk about "SCRUBS" and "NCIS: LOS ANGELES".

It seems like just yesterday that TV’s "finale week" has just ended, of course, that was just over a month ago and now the TV networks are announcing or have announced their respective upcoming fall schedules and new shows.

Over recent weeks, there has been a lot of chatter around the final season of "Scrubs", the hit-comedy (starring: Zach Braff, John C. McGinley, and Donald Faison) which originally broadcast on NBC, although last season was broadcast on ABC. On June 19, 2009, it was announced that the reformatted ninth season of Scrubs would "shift from the hospital to the classroom and make med-school professors of John C. McGinley’s Dr. Cox and Donald Faison’s Turk." According to Lawrence, the ninth season will "be a lot like Paper Chase as a comedy," with Cox’s and Turk’s students occasionally rotating through the halls of Sacred Heart and encountering former series regulars. McGinley and Faison will be joined by "a quartet of newbies (most of them playing students)" as full-time regulars, while one of the freshmen "will be fairly famous."

Scrubs will be back for Season 9, on ABC and will be broadcast Tuesdays at 9:00pm/8 CST, however, we cannot confirm the official start of the new season, only to say that it will begin in "late 2009" and run through "early 2010".

There are a lot of changes coming to CBS this year, the network has added six (6) new shows to it’s fall lineup. One of the highly rated and certainly most talked about is the addition of the NCIS spin-off "NCIS: Los Angeles". The NCIS producer Shane Brennen hinted at the new spin-off late last year during the 6th season of NCIS with a two-part introduction to the new cast members of the then known as "NCIS: Legend". In case you missed the introductory episodes for NCIS: Los Angeles, you can watch them both by visiting these links: "NCIS: Legend Part 1" and "NCIS: Legend Part 2".

NCIS: Los Angeles Synopsis
NCIS: LOS ANGELES is a drama about the high stakes world of undercover surveillance at the Office of Special Projects (OSP), a division of NCIS that is charged with apprehending dangerous and elusive criminals that pose a threat to the nation’s security. By assuming false identities and utilizing the most advanced technology, this team of highly trained agents goes deep undercover, putting their lives on the line in the field to bring down their targets. Special Agent "G" Callen (Chris O’Donnell) is a chameleon who transforms himself into whomever he needs to be to infiltrate the criminal underworld.

You can find out more about NCIS: LOS ANGELES by visiting CBS’ NCIS: LOS ANGELES website, but before you do that, take an exclusive look behind the scenes and meet the cast of NCIS: LOS ANGELES. Be sure to mark your calendars for Tuesday, September 22, 2009 and catch the original NCIS at 7pm CST and then stay tuned right after for the premiere of NCIS: LOS ANGELES at 8pm CST.
