So after six years of the Human theme, the developers of Ubuntu have created a new look for Ubuntu.

Its called light and it comes in two flavors a “Light” one and a “Dark one, it also comes with a new wallpaper, bootscreen a new Empathy theme, new icons and a redesigned logo.

The new style of Ubuntu is driven by the theme “Light”. We’ve developed a comprehensive set of visual guidelines and treatments that reflect that style, and are updating key assets like the logo accordingly. The new theme takes effect in 10.04 LTS and will define our look and feel for several years.

Ubuntu has seen a tremendous amount of growth and change since it was conceived in 2004. Back then it was a small project with strong ambitions and a handful of developers passionate about delivering a world class Linux Operating System that can compete on every level with Microsoft and Apple. We adopted a style based on the tagline “Linux for Human Beings”, and called it “Human”. Six years on we have made incredible progress. Ubuntu is a global phenomenon: we have carved out a pervasive culture of quality and design, thoughtful usability and great technology all fused together in a project that maintains the same commitment to community and collaborative development that we embraced back in 2004.

In 2009, a small team lead by Mark Shuttleworth, conducted a review of our key brand values and identity. Based on that work, a set of visual treatments were produced, and shared with key members of the Ubuntu Art community, spanning the core distributions, derivatives, and aligned efforts like the Forums. Representatives from Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Edubuntu, Xubuntu, Mythbuntu, SpreadUbuntu and more came to London and worked with the Canonical design team to refine the designs and work together. The results of that work are presented here.
Activision plans to release a new Call of Duty game this fall from Treyarch, mean while, Infinity Ward is in development on the first two downloadable map pack for Modern Warfare 2 scheduled for release sometime this year.

For the first time, the company is announcing that it plans to release a new game in the Call of Duty series in 2011 and that Sledgehammer Games, a newly formed, wholly owned studio is in development on a Call of Duty game that will expand the Call of Duty franchise into the action-adventure genre.

Sledgehammer Games is helmed by industry veterans Glen A. Schofield and Michael Condrey. Prior to joining Activision Publishing, Schofield was the Executive Producer of the award-winning game, Dead Space and Michael Condrey was the Sr. Development Director on the game. The Dead Space franchise has won more than 80 industry awards worldwide including the prestigious A.I.A.S. Action Game of the Year and two B.A.F.T.A.S.

While, the Call of Duty business unit will be led by Philip Earl, who currently runs Activision Publishing’s Asia Pacific region and previously served in senior executive positions with Procter & Gamble and Nestle. Activision Publishing veterans Steve Pearce, chief technology officer and Steve Ackrich, head of production, will lead Infinity Ward on an interim basis.

In a press release from Activision, the company has confirmed that Jason West and Vince Zampella are no longer with Infinity Ward. However, the company will not comment as to the reason West and Zampella are no longer with Infinity Ward.

“Guayadeque Music Player”
Well i came across this player a few times in the last couple of weeks and was wondering what all the fuzz was about so i decided to give it spin.
And let me tell ya i wasn’t disappointed.

Impression after first bootup:

I was just sitting there wondering when it was done, then after a few seconds it hit me “Its already booted”.
Its just that fast, click the icon and you’re instantly looking at the player no delay what so ever.

Ok so after my little wake up i decided to add my library, which is about 38GB in size so its pretty big.
And let me tell you its pretty fast compared to Rhythmbox or Banshee, some have reported it to be a bit slower but i actually found it to load my full library a bit faster, also its very light on resources compared to some of the other players.

Features:

Well it has everything you expect a music player to have, and it doesn’t really have anything that sets it apart from the rest feature wise:

Play mp3, ogg, flac, wma, mpc, mp4, ape, etc

Read and write tags in all supported formats

Allow to catalogue your music using labels. Any track, artist or album can have as many labels you want

Smart play mode that add tracks that fit your music taste using the tracks currently in play list

Supports shotcast radios

Ability to download covers manually or automatically from the internet

Suggest music using last.fm service

Allow fast access to any music file by genre, artist, album, etc

Play shoutcast radios

Allow to subscribe to podcasts and download all new episodes automatically or manually

Dynamic or static play lists

Tracks tag editor with automatically fetching of tags information for easily completion

Lyrics downloads from different lyrics providers. etc

Allow to resume play status and position when closed and reopened

You can rate the tracks from 0 to 5 stars

Mpris dbus interface support so it can easily controlled from music applets for example

etc

Only thing i can say is install it and see how you like, i think you won’t be disappointed.

The band previously finished another studio album in 2008, however, the release of the album was put on hold in favor of “Diamond Eyes”.

“Diamond Eyes” was originally scheduled to be released on April 27, 2010 but was pushed back three weeks to May 18, 2010 through Warner Bros. Records/Reprise Records. On Tuesday, February 23, 2010 the band released the first single from “Diamond Eyes” as a free download on their official web site, the single titled “Rocket Skates”.

While “Rocket Skates” will not be receiving radio play its known that the first radio single will be the title track, "Diamond Eyes," and will be released for airplay on March 30, 2010.

Commenting on song writing, Moreno stated:

“ I don’t like listening to people’s problems — I like music. Music has been smothered with that complaining since the early-’90s. It gets old. Instead of going to the opposite side of the spectrum and listening to Black Eyed Peas, which is just straight silly, I choose to listen to more instrumental music. I do very little singing about myself on this record. I love songs where I can totally take myself out of being human. I can sing about really odd things, and they don’t necessarily have to pertain to me at all. It paints a picture. Those are the kind of lyrics I grew up with — like The Cure. Really visual images and no storytelling.”

Deftones wanted to make an optimistic record, as opposed to the dark and angry album they just finished. “Diamond Eyes” was recorded in two months with producer Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Velvet Revolver, Stone Sour). Deftones avoided using Pro Tools on the album in favor of writing songs together as a band and practicing them "a million times ’til they were perfect" in order to achieve a more raw and "personable" sound.

Overall the album is expected to include a total of 11 tracks including “Rocket Skates”, Nylons and Suspenders”, and “Diamond Eyes”. The entire albums track list is not currently available.

The search deal which was announced in July of 2009 while, seeking closure and approval from both the EC and USDOJ in early 2010.

Under the terms of the agreement, Microsoft will provide Yahoo! with the same search result listings available through Bing, and Yahoo! will innovate around those listings by integrating rich Yahoo! content, enhanced listings with conveniently organized information about key topics, and tools to tailor the experience for Yahoo! users.

Yahoo! will focus on providing a compelling and innovative search experience that allows people to find and explore the things, people and sites that matter most to them. While Microsoft will provide the underlying platform, both companies will continue to create different, compelling and evolving experiences, competing for audience, engagement and clicks.

Microsoft and Yahoo! are expected to begin the implementation process in the coming days and will involve transitioning Yahoo!’s algorithmic and paid search platforms to Microsoft, with Yahoo! becoming the exclusive relationship sales force for both companies’ premium search advertisers globally.
