Emerald themes make Ubuntu look a lot prettier, when used in conjunction with Compiz.

There are two things we need to do.

The first thing to do is download Compiz and the 'Compiz Config Settings Manager', both of which can be found in the Ubuntu Software Centre under the names 'Compiz' and 'Advanced Desktop Effects Settings' (you only have to search for Compiz).

Now search and download Emerald and the Emerald Theme Manager. Using the import option within Emerald you will be able to add the themes you Download.

(Note: Both Compiz & Emerald can be configured by using the tools found under System > Preferences)

If you find each time you login to Ubuntu that your Emerald Theme is no longer applied, simply Open 'Compizconfig Settings Manager' and search for Window Decoration using the Filter found on the left hand side of the Menu Screen. After clicking the Window Decoration icon you will see a box next to Command. Simply insert 'emerald --replace' (without the quotes) and close the 'Compizconfig Settings Manager' Window.
