[Windows 7 Spotlight!] Create Your Own Windows 7 Desktop Theme

In Windows 7 it is now possible to create your own desktop theme to share with others or keep as a backup in case you need to reinstall Windows 7. The process to create your own theme is really easy in Windows 7.

To change parts of a theme:

1. Open Personalization by clicking the Start button, and the type "Personalization" into the start menu search box. Alternatively, you can right-click any open space on the desktop not occupied by icons or Desktop Gadgets and select "Personalization" from the context menu.

2. Click the theme you want to change to apply it to the desktop.

3. Do one or more of the following:

a. To change the background, click Desktop Background; select the check box for the image that you want to use, and then click "Save changes".

b. To change the color of window borders, click Window Color, click the color that you want to use, adjust the intensity, and then click "Save changes".

c. To change the sounds for the theme, click Sounds, click an item in the Sound Schemes list, and then click OK.

d. To add or change a screen saver, click Screen Saver, click an item in the Screen saver list, change any settings that you want to change, and then click OK.

4. Next, click "Save Theme" under "My Themes" in the Personalization control panel window.

5. In the "Save Theme" window comes on-screen type a name for your theme and click "Save."

6. If you want to save the theme for sharing or as a backup, simply right click on the theme in the Personalization menu and select "Save Theme for sharing" from the context menu.

7. Lastly, type a name and make sure that "Theme Pack (*.themepack)" is selected as the "Save as Type" dropdown menu and then type a name into the "File name" textbox and click "Save" and you will be able to share your theme with anyone on Windows 7.

As an example I have created a sharable theme feel free to download it and use it on your PC. If you are fans of the television show NCIS I think you'll like it!
