Overall Windows 7 is a great platform and it's continued performance improvements (even at the beta) over both Windows XP and Windows Vista are great.

There are a lot of new and improved features in Windows 7 that make Windows 7 a delight to use, such as Aero Snaps, Aero Peek - two features I use a lot. And with the improvements made for home networking, with HomeGroup, it will be even easier for the average consumer to connect to other PCs and devices in the home and easily share the content that is most important.

Over the next few weeks, I will be going in to detail on the new features of Windows 7. At the same time, I want to hear your thoughts as well, so please post your thoughts about Windows 7.

Windows 7 is looking promising, its already performing better than Vista and if Microsoft stick to their word and deliver on whatever they promise us then people won't get over hyped, and adoption may just happen naturally rather than a forced campaign.

Don't get me wrong, i liked Vista but Windows 7 will outlive it easily, Vista is looking ever so slightly like another M.E, except an expensive one that took too long to make, something i would of denied not so long ago.

I can't get give an honest opinion at the moment because. I have only had it running in a virtual machine.
However even in a virtual machine i notice a slight increase in performance.

The one thing i hate is the boot screen, i just don't get why they would put in such a piece of over bloated crap at boot up. Ok it looks nice but i think you could decrease your systems boot time by 30 seconds if you could remove it.

But Windows 7 is definitely an improvement over Vista.

Well, technically, you can "remove" it.. lol, it's only a series of images that replace the progress bar that was in Vista. I am not sure that it will be a permanent thing. A lot could still change UI wise, not so much feature wise, being Windows 7 is considered feature-complete. And I think they will have that 7 will ship this year - in time for the holiday season. With the next step being the RC phase (i'd say that will be three months from now - and another three months will be RTM, that puts us at July).

Its the only thing i have to nagg about at this point so they did a fine job.
Windows 7 might just be the new 95/XP. But like i said before i need to physically install it first before i can give a real opinion.

Well let's hope you get those 2 500gb hdds soon then... Well, nothing i am sure will compete with the way 95 sold when it was generally available for the first time, people were just nuts - XP didn't even go over that big.

But we will have to wait and see what you think of it. Personally, I like it, there are things that I actually miss when i boot into Vista.

I am currently multi-booting

Windows 7 - x64
Windows 7 - x86
Windows Vista - x86
