iPhone Preorders Over 1 Million in 24 Hours

Many speculated that the new iPhone would not outsell its predecessor the iPhone 4. It seems however that this isn't the case. While the iPhone 4 sold a massive 600k in its first 24 hours, the new iPhone 4S sold over a million in the same timescale.
On the Official Apple Site we read

“We are blown away with the incredible customer response to iPhone 4S,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing. “The first day pre-orders for iPhone 4S have been the most for any new product that Apple has ever launched and we are thrilled that customers love iPhone 4S as much as we do.”
Improvements include the brand new Apple Dual Core A5 Chip, a new Camera that supports Full HD Video recording and the Siri Personal assistant that responds to your questions.
