Great news for gamers, as Nintendo have confirmed that they will indeed be releasing a new console in 2012.

In a brief statement, Nintendo said that they “will show a playable model of the new system and announce more specifications at the E3 Expo".

Rumors suggest that not only will the console support full hd, but that users will be able to monitor their game progress via a screen integrated into the controller itself.

Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata, speaking at a Japanese Press Conference said that “it became difficult for developers to surprise customers with the current Wii."

The Wii sold extremely well because it changed how we interact with our games, opening up gaming to many different generations. Will Nintendo be able to repeat it's success?
