[Guide] Nvidia Cards on Windows 8 7989
Those of you with Nvidia Cards may have discovered that the latest Windows 8 build does not let you install the correct drivers, affecting performance. This guide (courtesy of Xeraxic.com) should fix that issue. Note: We take no responsibility for loss of data or damage to hardware. To use this guide you will need; Windows 7 64-bit & Windows 8 build 7989 installed on the same system, using a dual boot. DriverMax Step 1: Boot into Windows 7 and download "DriverMax", install and run it. When you have it opened, choose to back-up drivers and select the graphics driver drivers only. Then once thats backed-up, close windows 7 and boot Windows 8. Step 2: Download and install DriverMax on Windows 8. Open it and choose to restore the drivers. Select your graphics driver folder from your other partiton and click OK. Then it will tell you the driver isn't signed (blah blah). Say yes to all the errors until the driver has been recovered and it askes you to restart. Restart Windows 8. Step 3: Now, go to Device Manager (Start->Computer->Properties->Device Manager). Go to the "Display adapters" tree node, it will have 1 sub node which will have a warning. This is normal. Right click and choose "Update Driver Software", then search for driver online. It will finish searching and say there was no driver found and the current one is best. Press OK and then reboot. Step 4: Once windows 8 has rebooted. Everything will be fine and your new driver will have installed. Repeat this process with any other drivers that may be faulty. |
