
Anonymous has taken down several sites in response to the news that the US Government has taken down the popular file sharing site Megaupload citing copyright infringement. Federal Agents have issued 20 search warrents around the globe, and arrested two individuals involved with Megaupload in New Zealand.
The group has launched a denial of service attack on the Department of Justice website, rendering it unusable for the last 2 hours. The group also launched attacks on the Universal Music Group, as well as the RIAA,
MPAA chief Chris Dodd's personal
website, Copyright.gov, and BMI.com.
Expect this to go on for a while. “Get some popcorn… it’s going to be a long lulzy night,”
writes Anonnews.
The group has stated via twitter they are currently in the process of attempting to take down Whitehouse.gov.
Update: CNN reports: "Source inside Anonymous claims More than 27,000 computers involved in DOJ attack."
